Around 12.30pm today, as I was checking out the 3 weeks-old baby guppy in its tank, I saw many more other wriggling baby guppies in the tank! At that point in time, mommy guppy was still giving birth and to our surprised, she did it in front of our eyes!! Hahahaha.. I've never thought that I would have the chance to witness that! It was such a wonderful moment for me and I felt like a kid, pointing out to CK, "Look! Look! A baby just came out of the mommy's tummy!!" Hahaha..
The first time mommy guppy gave birth was about 3 weeks ago (23th Sept, 09), in the bigger tank. At that time, I was so surprised when I lit up the tank and saw the fries. CK and I was so excited! But at that time, there were only 2. We are not sure whether the rest were eaten up or not, but, at the time we only saw 2. To avoid the risk of babies being attacked or eaten by the adult guppies, we bought a smaller tank and move the babies there about a week ago.
I can't describe how thrilled I was when I saw these 2 tiny fella. They marked a history in this house by being the first 2 babies being born in the house! Hahaha... I have been rearing fish since 2 years ago, but there wasn't any babies from the batches of fish that I've reared, so far. Sometimes, my crazy mind would just think that, it must be because, there wasn't any descendant luck in the house, not for me and not for the pets that I rear. Sigh.. I was hoping that something would change that and I think my prayers were answered when these babies were born! I felt like the "no descendant curse" has been lifted! Hahaha.. I know it's stupid to think that way, but, sometimes, I just can't help myself after all that has happened.
2 days ago, CK and I decided to move mommy guppy to the baby tank because she looked like she was going to explode with her big tummy! But of course, we need to make sure that the 2 "curse breaker" babies are well protected with enough hiding places. And finally, today, mommy decided to bring in fresh new lives into the tank and this time, 11 of them!! Sigh.. How I wish I could give birth as easy as how mommy guppy did it.. hahaha.. It was effortless!! But I guess, I need to get pregnant first.. sigh.. still no luck at that! Let's hope with this new phenomenon, things will change. Wish me luck!
