If you can't get rid of the skeleton in your closet, you'd best teach it to dance.

Fun Sunday

bellydanceWhat would you usually do on Sunday? Sleep? Go & hang out with friends? Watch TV? To me, Sunday is where I do my weekly chores like, washing the clothes, sweep & mop the floor, watch TV, yah.. sleep too & will go back to my parents' place, occasionally. But these were not the things that I did last Sunday! Instead of running my weekly routine, I was at somewhere more interesting.

Where was I?
I was at a "You Can Dance" party last Sunday (Nov 25th)! It was an event organized by The Zero Fitness Dance Studio to encourage people that love dancing but has not made the attempt to finally make the first step into dancing. It was also a dance event for the people to explore the various dance styles that are being offered by the studio & promote their dance classes. I have also managed to encourage 2 of my friends to join me & my husband in this event.

Getting There
But of course, doing something out of the norm takes effort. Initially, I was pretty lazy to step out of the house on that day. My body was like telling me, "Hey, it's Sunday. You should be lazying around in the house & not going out!" My eyes were heavy & I kept yawning. I felt so sleepy! It was a lazy day. Snooze My husband felt the same. But luckily, we still made it out of the apartment & got to the party. & I was glad that we made that effort. hehehe.. Smile

The Event
The day event started with Modern Jazz demonstration by Conny, the Studio's principal and then a warm-up session to a famous song, "We will rock you!" There I was with my husband & our friends, doing the sumo, gun pointing & guitar playing steps. Hahaha..

Then, we moved on to a Self Defense session. The instructor gave us some basic skills on self defense, such as where are our body natural weapons, our body weak points & also told us that we must be humble but alert. hahaha.. There were some movements which were taught on how to counter-attack & protect ourselves, as well. I would say that it was quite educative for me.

Next, was the Latin Fusion. Latin Fusion is an idea produced by Conny for dancers that love Latin movements like Rhumba, Cha Cha but have difficulties in finding a partner. This session started off again with a demonstration from the Instructor, Novem and her students. After that, it was our turn again to participate in the short choreography that was prepared for us. This time, we moved to the Cha Cha. Although, the session was pretty short, it was enjoyable.

Coming on after that, was the Hip Hop session, but, I was not around to enjoy this session since, I needed to get ready for the Belly Dance session that was coming next. My husband told me that Albert was good and he managed to learn the running man movement, on top of many others that were taught & he told me that his body was aching all over after that session. Hahaha..

Finally, we had the belly dance session, which started off with a performance by Vivian, Apple and myself. It was the first time I performed this dance & was pretty shaky since I did not get to practice much before the party. Hopefully, the participants still enjoyed it. Again, after that, Conny led everyone to a short belly dance choreography. Everyone there were encouraged to participate in the dance, even guys! One of my friends told me that belly dance is difficult! They will start to appreciate belly dancers more, from now. Hahaha..

Afterwards
After the event ended, we adjourned to a coffee shop in Taman Lip Sin, Penang for a bowl of Laksa. It was a fun learning Sunday for everyone.
