Everyone is trying to accomplish something big, not realizing that life is made up of little things.

USM Hostel on Fire?

It was a weekend. I was watching TV at that moment. Suddenly, I heard the siren of a fire engine. I jumped out of my cozy recliner & rushed to the window nearby. I couldn't see the fire engines, but what I saw gave me a shock! There was smoke all over one of USM's hostel building at the University Place. Arrgh! The hostel was on FIRE! I panicked & looked around but to my amazement, I saw people walking leisurely up & down the hill in the hostel compound like there was nothing happening. I thought to myself, "hmm.. how come the people there are so relax? Why?". I can't see the fire engine, but I was assuming that it was hidden by other buildings in the area. And since no body seemed panicky, I guessed the situation must be under controlled.

After looking on a little while longer, my confusion as to why no crowd has gathered at the building & no one seemed to care what was happening bothered me. So I glanced over my shoulders & asked my husband who was sitting at the table busy with his computer, "Low Kong (hubby, in Cantonese), the hostel is on fire but why the people there are so relax, one? Should I call the Bomba?" He stood up & looked out the window & said, "It's not on Fire lah". I was puzzled. Think . "Hmm.. no meh?" I asked myself.

Hostel on Fire Hostel on Fire

I kept looking & took some shots from my apartment window. My husband has gone back to his work. The curious me still looked on. Then, suddenly, I saw a man walking at the ground floor of the "burning" building with a mask through my camera (I had zoomed into the building)& he was holding a hose with smoke coming out from it. It suddenly hit me. Aik! My husband was right. There was no fire after all. It was just the municipal doing some fogging at the building. Sigh.. I felt so stupid! hahaha. Laughing.

like the effect in the photos. look like very high up in the mountains full of mist. plus the greenery. nice... who knows it's toxic fumes!

@Kim
Like that also look like mist ah !! Shocked

The food in the Restu Cafeteria... the chinese economy rice was so bad that all the students that ate there... rushed to their respective loos and "kentut" at the same time... hence... the massive "fog"

Mee.... the guy with mask that you saw was one of the very few ever-prepared USM officers trying to mitigate the problem.
